I started this project as an idea for a software pitch competition in 2023 hosted by my school's finance and tech week. The idea was that the system keeps track of the seller's inventory and makes informed decisions for them.

My team and I went around all the possible vendors to conduct a survey on the SMEs we could find in our area to understand why this idea should have any reason being alive.

Our findings from the survey revealed the following:

  • Significant losses were due to lack of valuable insights.

  • About 75% of the SMEs had no effective inventory management systems in place.

  • None of them were benefitting from data-driven strategies

There were not a lot of competitors that I could find to analyze to grant inspiration for this product, so I ended up using familiar design patterns to make it a product intuitive enough for any user to navigate throughby limiting the flow to three main sections:


  • Home Section - view recent orders, and how much items in your inventory

  • Insights Section - View data for day, week, month and year, and simple graphs to show growth

  • Products Section - Update your inventory by adding or removing items.


While the idea seems plausible, Light Inc. is working on building this product so for now, it's merely a concept.

User flows of the app were tested against the product pitch. The product failed the competition because we believe that the judges could not see the full potential of the product. However, the product was pitched in a bigger competition and we won first place. Besides that, building this product made me realize how much more SMEs could do to make their business flourish, and I will work to see this product boost it's user sales.
